🍽 Feeding Guidelines

While Ciuffi doesn’t publish a specific weight-based feeding chart, the general principles for kittens apply:

1. Meal Frequency by Age

• Up to 4 months: Feed 3 small meals per day.

• After 4 months (until about 6‑8 months): Reduce to 2 meals per day.

• After ~10–12 months of age: Transition to adult food gradually.

2. Daily Caloric Needs

• During rapid growth (5–8 months): Target 60–65 calories per pound of body weight per day.

  • Example: A 5 lb (≈ 2.3 kg) kitten needs ~300–325 calories daily.

3. Estimated Portion Size

• Since protein and fat are ~36% and ~14% respectively, this diet is moderately calorie-dense. While Ciuffi doesn’t list calories per cup, typical kitten kibble (about 400–500 kcal per cup) applies.

• So for ~300 calories/day: approximately ¾ cup dry food, split into two or three meals.

4. Adjusting Portions

• Monitor body weight and growth:

  • If kitten seems underweight or isn’t gaining, increase portion slightly.

  • If gaining too quickly or becoming chunky, reduce portion.

• Always offer plenty of fresh water and consider adding quality wet food to support hydration and balanced nutrition.

📌 Suggested Feeding Table (Approximate)

Split totals into:

• Three meals if under 4 months.

• Two meals if older than ~4–5 months.

✅ Key Tips

• Gradual introduction: Introduce this food gradually (10–25% per day over a week) especially if switching brands.

• Combine with wet kitten food daily—supports hydration and adds variety.

• Watch your kitten’s body condition and adjust feeding quantities as needed.

• Consult your vet for personalized advice, especially if your kitten has health or breed-specific needs.
