Wet food feeding amounts depend on several factors including your cat’s weight, age, activity level, health status, whether she also eats dry food, etc. The packaging or manufacturer usually gives a baseline guideline; I couldn’t find a precise feeding table in the sources I checked. However, here are sound practices and estimates:
General guidelines (typical wet-food rules)
As a rough rule, adult cats often need about 40–50 calories per kilogram (kg) of body weight per day (this can vary).
Wet foods often provide ~ 70–90 kcal per 100 g (this is a general range; check product label for exact kcal).
For example, if the can is ~ 80 kcal/100 g, a 400 g can contains ~ 320 kcal.
For a 4 kg adult cat, daily energy need might be ~ 160–200 kcal. So about ½ can to ¾ can of 400 g might suffice (or more if active).
It is often better to split into 2 or more meals: feed half in morning, half in evening (or in smaller portions).
